The term “Foursquare” stands for the four-fold ministry of Jesus Christ as the Savior (Romans 10:9) , Baptizer with the Holy Spirit (Luke 3:16)  , Healer (1 Peter 2:24) , and Coming King (Acts 1:11) .

The Foursquare Church, officially the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, was founded in Los Angeles, California, By Aimee Semple McPherson in 1923.
Amid the revival days of the early 1900s this fellowship of believers was born, determined to proclaim the solid scriptural core of Pentecostal renewal, avoiding the extremes of fanaticism on one hand and materialism on the other.

God in his grace, has allowed us to go from the one local fellowship to more than 65,000 churches and meeting places in approximately 140 countries. These numbers are rapidly increasing.

We have no desire to compete or compare. We rejoice with every body of believers which lifts the bloodstained banner of Jesus Christ. The Foursquare Church is a member of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) and as a Pentecostal Church, is affiliated with the Pentecostal-Charismatic Churches of North America (PCCNA) and the Pentecostal World Fellowship.
